Joel J. Johnson Jr has been an employee of Coastal Plains Community Center for 25 years. He received his bachelorβs and masterβs degree in Psychology from Texas A&M University Kingsville. He also received a Masters of Social Work degree from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. Joel studied Spanish at the Universidad de Vina del Mar in Chile. He currently is the Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Jim Wells County Tax Review Board, member of the Hispanic Heritage Board and the Alice Evening Lions Board. He is a former member of the Alice Housing Authority Board of Directors. He is a member of the Alice Coyote Booster Club, former member of the Jim Wells County Drug Court and an Eagle Scout. Joel has worked in the field of community mental health care in multiple capacities. His lifeβs work has taken the role of therapist, intake coordinator and clinic director. Joel is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and has been an LPC since 2000.
