Zaporozhye NPP is disconnected

Zaporozhye NPP on Thursday, August 25, for the first time in its history, was completely disconnected from the power grid due to the actions of Russian invaders.

Energoatom clarified that fires at the ash dumps of the Zaporizhzhya TPP, which is located next to the nuclear power plant, on August 25 twice led to the shutdown of the last (fourth) communication line of the Zaporozhye NPP with the energy system of Ukraine. Three other communication lines were damaged by the Russian invaders with their shelling. As a result, two operating power units of the station were disconnected from the network.

The emergency protection of the power units worked – after Russian shelling damaged the last working line of the station's power output to the Ukrainian power system.

Diesel generators were immediately activated to provide energy to the station itself, to support it after the shutdown. The world must understand what a threat this is: if the diesel generators did not turn on, if the automation and our station staff did not work after the blackout, then we would already be forced to overcome the consequences of the radiation accident. Russia has put Ukraine and all Europeans one step away from a radiation disaster.
