Russians mined the Kakhovskaya HPP dam

If the water level of the Kakhovsky reservoir drops, the functioning of the cooling infrastructure of the reactors of the Zaporizhzhya NPP will be disrupted, specialists emphasized.

Detonation of the dam of the Kakhovka hydroelectric plant, which was mined by the Russian occupiers, will lead to a nuclear disaster at the Zaporizhzhia NPP. Since the water level of the reservoirs will decrease, the functioning of the cooling infrastructure of the reactors will be disrupted.

According to the Center's monitoring, the Russians installed remote-controlled explosives on the drain and sewer systems along the access roads to the Antonivsky Bridge. Experts admit that their detonation can be carried out at the moment of the accumulation of the civilian population, which will try to leave for the left bank of the Dnieper.

It is known that the HPP dam holds 18 million cubic meters of water. In the event of a decrease in the water level of the Kakhovsky Reservoir, the functioning of the cooling infrastructure of the Zaporizhzhya NPP reactors will be disrupted. This threatens a nuclear catastrophe, the center emphasizes.

In addition, undermining the dam or destroying the locks will flood 80 settlements downstream, hundreds of thousands of people will be affected. This will make the operation of the North Crimean Canal impossible.

"And the Russians are already preparing a plan to blame Ukraine for this. The devastating environmental, humanitarian, man-made consequences of this single Russian terrorist attack may become such that it will be called a historical catastrophe," the Center of National Resistance noted.
