MT-LB Destroyed by 2B9 Vasilek

A video here looking at the destruction of a Russian MT-LB by an unusual weapons system. The 2B9 Va-syl-lok automatic mortar. Two MTLB’s are seen in the area along with trenches and ground fortifications—so this is a fairly substantial operating area for Russia. Four rounds are seen striking the area, with number 3 marked here hitting the MT-LB. Then, we get some very clear footage of the burnt out MT-LB. Before I take a look at the location. I will take a look at the 2B9 itself. It is a Soviet platform able to fire mortar shells singly or in a four round clip—which we saw here. It can fire high explosive or armor piercing shells as well as flares and smoke. So it’s a pretty versatile piece of equipment. It can lay down over 100 rounds per minute and has a max range of 4.27 kilometers. It occurred here, in Borschova. If that name rings a bell, it’s because that same town as appeared in several videos of mine now—each showing Russian vehicles or troops getting destroyed. So, the town has become a bit of a killing zone for Russians as of late. And I expect we will see more videos to come—as we saw in this video, there are more juicy targets, including a MTLB which is waiting for its turn. It was here—in this sort of no-man’s land between Ukrainian controlled and Russian controlled territory. Ukraine seems content to just sit back and pepper away at Russian forces that appear in the town. Honestly—given their losses near here, which includes soldiers, BMPS, MTLBs and, if I remember right, a tank—I am surpised Russia still insists on heading here. Ukrainian forces are clearly zeroed in—we’ve seen indirect fire from T-64s, mortars and artillery used. I can’t see Ukraine advancing to take the town because, why bother? Ukraine clearly has good firing positions and Russia keeps sending vehicles into the town. They might as well sit back and pick them off. And, it’s proving very successful.
